In the picturesque town of San Miguel de Allende, the glass studios of Rose Ann and Charlie Hall are breathing new life into an ancient trade. With the help of local apprentices, many of whom are physically challenged like Charlie himself, these expert glassmakers design and create one-of-a-kind serving pieces that are inspired by Rose Ann’s 35-year love affair with Mexico and its people. The Halls and their artisans are undeniably masters of their craft. For the Amber Glass collection, they tossed bits of amber, topaz, and deep bronze glass into a clear sea of molten glass before they shaped and painstakingly blew each piece individually. All the glass the Hall studio uses is recycled. And while no two of these sophisticated glasses are exactly alike, their mood is unmistakable—life is meant to be savored.
