Highly-regarded as a symbol of fortune and status, lacquerware has an ancient and noble history in China. Lacquer and producing lacquerware has been known to the Chinese at least since the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC–1046 BC). John Kauphusman and Tin Wong, co-founders and chief designers at Pacific Connections, began their company in 1994 in China’s Shandong Province with a family-built factory dedicated to a small selection of home accessories and tables. Today, Pacific Connections offers an extensive product line, widely regarded as some of the finest lacquerware available in the United States.
