Mmm...marshmallows...they conjure some of childhood's fondest memories: creamy bits of melting fluff floating in hot chocolate; roasted to a crisp and gooey stickiness by a campfire; or decadently smashed between graham crackers and chocolate for an ultimate treat—S'mores. Heaven, certainly, but be warned. The sumptuous marshmallows handmade by Butter Baked Goods are NOT the airy puffs you grew up with. Oh, no. These are individually handmade, delicately flavored gourmet confections of complete lusciousness that take marshmallows away from the campground and into high society. Subtly infused with toasted coconut, vanilla, or strawberry, you'll eat these nostalgic treats with epicurious appreciation. Truly addictive.
Butter Baked Goods may have only opened its doors in September of 2007, but their fine, homemade baked goods are already legendary. Butter Baked Goods is the vision of interior designer, Rosie Daykin, and her mother, Pixie Porcellato, whose expertise and creativity in the kitchen has long won rave reviews from her own family. Rosie and Pixie were experimenting one afternoon and stumbled across an old recipe for homemade marshmallows. Testing the results of their foray into marshmallow making at a local bake sale in Vancouver, the ladies sold out of their chocolate-dipped, dyed, flavored, and sprinkled marshmallows in just hours. Butter Baked Goods is truly a family business, with Rosie's brother Ray Porcellato baking cookies, and several cousins working with customers in the Butter shop in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Butter Baked Goods family puts the "home" in "homemade."
