Hand-Embroidered Clutch by Forgotten Shanghai

$26.00

Item #277781

This splendidly crafted clutch, with delicate hand-embroidery, adds a refined touch to any evening...whether meeting girlfriends for drinks or attending a gallery soiree. The interior is roomy enough for necessities, while the zippered pocket accommodates discreet valuables. And the flap pocket seems virtually designed for holding tickets to the ballet. Handmade in Vietnam with luscious Thai silk. Green.

Imagine a company that can evoke the splendor of 1920s Shanghai—the most exciting and exotic city of its day. As the Far East's center of artistry, the city attracted master craftsmen, fine tailors, opera singers, musicians, dancers, and poets from around the world. Privileged life was vibrant with dancing, gambling, lawlessness, opium dens, and social clubs. The exuberance of that opulent era eventually fell away when the political winds shifted, but is evident inspiration in the contemporary collections of Forgotten Shanghai. Owner Margaret Currivan curates her retail space in San Francisco's Design District with furniture, silks, and homewares sourced or commissioned during her frequent trips to the various provinces of China. Beautiful and evocative, each piece makes for a distinctive gift or keepsake, imbued with the spirit of an era known for its cultural and artistic vivacity.
